This year we are taking part in EqualiTeach’s Programme ‘Free to Be’, which is funded by the Government Equalities Office. The programme is designed to support schools to tackle homophobic bullying and raise awareness of issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) equality.
With the support of EqualiTeach, The Sherwood School and 29 other London primary schools will be undertaking a whole-school programme of work looking at our policies, teaching and curriculum in order to ensure that our school is an inclusive and safe environment for LGBT+ members of our school community. Free to Be will run from April 2019 – March 2020.
Each participating school will be allocated an EqualiTeach representative who will work with them to create a bespoke package of support, which will include:
We would like to invite parents and carers to find out more about the project on Thursday 26th September 2019. There will be a parent workshop in the hall at 9am and we will have a representative from the ‘Free to Be’ programme who will be able to tell you more information about the programme and show some of the resources that we will be using.
We would like to thank you in advance for your support.
