Speech and Language Project
Speech and Language at The Sherwood School
We are very pleased to announce that we have successfully secured funding from a charitable organisation, The Speech, Language and Hearing Foundation. This funding has allowed us to carry out a three year Speech and Language project in school.
At a whole school level, this project aims to support the development of Speech, Language and Communication skills in our pupils. This funding has meant we are able to appoint Natasha Gudima, a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to work on this project.
This prestigious project is carried out in conjunction with Merton Local Authority and supported by University College London (UCL) Master's students. We are proud to welcome UCL Master’s Degree students to our school to support our work. Our students will be working across our Early Years and Foundation Stage classes and with staff to screen pupils’ language development and plan future interventions.
This has meant better opportunities for our pupils, our community and our local families. At key points across the year, we will invite you to join us in school to find out about our work and meet our Speech and Language Therapist.
For details of our next event, please see below or speak with a member of our Early Years team.
