Speech and Language Project

Speech and Language at The Sherwood School

We are very pleased to announce that we have successfully secured funding from a charitable organisation, The Speech, Language and Hearing Foundation. This funding  allows us to carry out a Language project in school across the next two academic years.

At a whole school level, this project aims to support the development of Speech, Language and Communication skills in our pupils. So far, this funding has meant we are able to appoint Linda Kelly, a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to work with pupils in school.

We are pleased to report that this prestigious project is carried out in conjunction with Merton Local Authority and supported by our Merton Speech and Language therapist Caroline Brodie who has close links to University College London (UCL).

We are proud to welcome UCL Master’s Degree students to our school to support our work. Our students will be working across our Early Years and Foundation Stage classes and with staff to screen pupils’ language development and plan future interventions for this cohort moving forward.

We hope this will mean better opportunities for your children, our community and our local families. This term we invite you to join us in school to find out about our work and meet our Speech and Language Therapist.
