Welcome to year 6!

Our team this year is: Mrs Lind in Oak Class and Miss Wells in Chestnut Class. The teaching assistant team is Miss Kelly and Mrs Naseer.

 

Please look at the medium term plan below to find out what the children will be learning this half term. We teach English through a variety of texts, in order to enrich children's language acquisition, which will enhance their oracy, writing and reading development. In order to consolidate the children's learning, we organise interesting visits throughout the academic year.

 

Children will receive homework for maths and English every week, in order to prepare them for their National Curriculum Assessments in the summer term. Children also receive spellings to learn and are tested weekly.

 

In year 6, children are expected to be excellent role models for all the pupils at The Sherwood School and as such, are able to apply for positions such as becoming house captains, play and digital leaders. We also encourage children to develop independence and responsibility, as part of their preparation for transition to high school through clubs such as Police Cadets.
