Hello and welcome to Year 1. The team this year are Miss Sarwar in Rose Class and Miss Klitzsch in Violet Class. Both Classes have support from Mrs Fuller and Mrs Sivalaxman. The children are becoming more independent this year and will have fun exploring within their learning environment.

We use the The Little Wandle systematic teaching of phonics scheme to help the children with reading & writing. Also, we use maths mastery strategies to ensure learning is as practical as possible, which helps to scaffold the children’s learning.  We will have a topic each half-term where the children have the opportunity to complete cross-curricular writing. 

Please encourage your children to read every night, learn their spellings for a test every Thursday and make sure to visit Numbots at least once a week. Homework that is set on a Friday needs to be returned by the following Thursday.
